Artist: Risa Taniguchi
Label: Outerworld Records
Release Date: Out now
Japanese artist Risa Taniguchi returns to release action with an inclusion on the latest Outerworld V/A EP, serving a blissed-out techno landscape on ‘Apocalypse’.
Though a classically trained musician, Taniguchi’s production sound has tended to dwell in hard-edged techno realms up until now. The newest addition to her studio repertoire sees her fuse ethereal melodies with raw machine drums for arguably her deepest composition to date. The Tokyo-based artist cut her DJ teeth playing in some of the Japanese capital’s most cultured techno venues – including Vent and Womb – so it’s of little surprise to find her sound evolving to encompass new sonic shades and nuances.
‘Apocalypse’ arrives on the transglobal ‘Outer002′ collection alongside music from Ackermann, Jamal Dixon, Kai Van Dongen, with UK techno head Boxia showing fine curation skills on his Outerworld label’s second instalment. “’Outerworld’ is a platform and movement for artists of all backgrounds, transcending class, race and identity to showcase the power of individuality and its role in forming progressive communities,” says Boxia of the project.
